1) it must have been very very late, an hour past bedtime at least - 2) - (for all the world's little children, were fast fast asleep) - 3) - but down in the kitchen - 4) - while the children dreamed - 5) - while the grown-ups talked and watched tv (and whoopsadaisy, monet dead) - 6) - the moon came in to the kitchen - 7) - (or so it seemed) - 8) - and the stars and clouds, all come to see - 9) - the fridge door open - 10) - and there in the light - 11) - a banana-split, come suddenly to life - 12) - (while cornwall sleeps) - 13) - whoppee, cried zip, i'm alive, i'm alive - 14) - ... - 15) - and cherry in pigtails bounced upon a shelf - 16) - while singing, oh but aren't i pretty, aren't i sweet - 17) - ... - 18) - but splodge was miserable.... - 19) - ... - 20) - and i no longer care - 21) - thinking, wouldn't this planet and dark december decked in christmas lights be nicer, sans germans? - 22) - without people probably - 23) - without me probably - 24) - oh well - 25) - another day - 26) - remembering that time back when i was fecking the blower's daughter - 27) - and drunk again, sober again, running like i'm nine again, dreamy dream dreaming... a summer's day - 28) - up bright and early and out the backdoor, running already, swerving already, to football in the park - 29) - to hell with it he says, off with these christmas lights, gimme some dark - 30) - i got this big box here he says, still in its christmas wrapping - 31) - i know what's inside it he says... it's a will-to-live machine, batteries not included
