Luc Besson - the fifth element (1997)

[the fifth element] Moebius and some other French comic book guy inspired space opera pitched as the next Star Wars but somehow simultaneously more honest and less marketable (go figure). Bruce Willis in what is probably his first respectable role since Pulp Fiction, Oldman as a Texan out to destroy the universe by suing Oprah or making a deal with the Powers of Darkness in which case it's more an out-of-court settlement, Milla Jovovich kicks the shit outta Luke Skywalker (sans saber, too) and Tricky gets blown to pieces in an airport (and now they call him superstar).
McDonald's gets a product placement almost on par with Taco Bell's in Demolition Man, proving they do indeed rule the world.
