Based off the Phillip K. Dick novel
Do Androids Dream
of Electric Sheep? Scott's cinema adaptation focuses more on the
notion of retiring replicants than of a society in which prestige is
directly influenced by the expense of one's pet. The plot line is tighter,
though a wonderfully Kafkaesque bit was lost in the process. The most
impressive aspect of the film, however, is the design of the Los Angeles
of 2019: corporate ziggurats, billboard zeppelins, Geisha Coke girls.
